Photography is a passion of mine that goes back to my early teen years when I received my first Vivitar 110 camera. This flame was fanned by my father’s enjoyment of photography, and when I was old enough, he let me borrow his 35mm camera. Looking back on that, handing his camera over to me was a daring move on my dad’s part. In my late teens, I started photographing local rock-and-roll bands, which led me down the side path of stage lighting.
Stage lighting taught me the basics of color theory and how mood can be manipulated by color (or lack thereof). The idea that you can influence how people feel, both emotionally and physically, through light was fascinating. This was the point in my life that I learned…I LOVE LIGHT!!!
I spent the next several years devoted to working as a stagehand, where I learned the many facets of stagecraft. As a young adult in a very exciting and diverse industry, I was able to dip my toe into many different waters, and I eventually landed on my ultimate question: How do you build a better luminaire? So, at the age of twenty-four, I was off to college where I would earn a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
My career path as well as my photography have taken many twists and turns along the way. I eventually landed my dream job at a company that wrote the book on how to build a better luminaire. I am doubly fortunate to work for a company that understands your passions and creativity make you, you. Through the encouragement of family, friends, and colleagues, I am sharing my love for photography with the world.
